Seven year old Kylie is a fun loving and ornery first grader who has been through many obstacles in her young life. When she was two months old, after the discovery of a plexiform neurofibroma and café au laits spots, Kylie was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 and the roller coaster ride began. After five eye surgeries, she lost her left eye at the age of three. MRI’s revealed her tumor was still growing, which resulted in two more surgeries to “debulk” the plexiform on her head by the time she was five. Currently she is taking a clinical trial chemotherapy that will hopefully stop or slow the growth. She endures countless doctors’ appointments and is subjected to quarterly MRI’s.
Despite the challenges Kylie faces, she is unstoppable. She loves cheerleading, “Go Bobcats!” and playing with her older sister, Katelyn. Kylie thrives in school and enjoys reading her favorite books. Her smile and laughter will light up any room. Kylie is our hero. She has inspired many people to lace up their shoes and make a difference by promoting NF awareness.
With Great Appreciation from Kylie’s Mom & Family
